Since we have begun on our adventure of living on board Nandji and filming our antics. We have put ourselves out there and displayed that to the wild world of internet. It is amazing the response you receive from people, both positive and negative. We have received emails from people around the world that are loving our journey and are video creations. It is amazing to get such complementing words said about from you from people you have never met. Complete strangers showing love and sharing their thoughts with us.
Their are people that we have inspired to follow their dreams and attempt crazy things. To restore their old boat or tell their boss that they have had enough. Its all extremely interesting and very rewarding to read about how we have changed their lives. We never thought that our journey could impact upon others lives on the other side of the world. It is a extremely warm feeling and that inspires us to continue on our journey to create and entertain.
On the other hand there are the haters. Wowzas, there are some of them! Not a lot, but the response we receive from some people is definitely confronting. We understand by putting ourselves out there, we are bound to get some people not enjoying what we do. If we didn't find the funny side and chose to engage in this behaviour then we would be as negative as those that choose this path. It could be quite demoralising, as the personal attacks sometimes are pretty full on. But you know what, I think its hilarious!! Its classic some of the names people can come up with. Actually quite creative in their own way.
Anyway, what i really wanted to talk about before I got a bit excited, was that on a few occasions we have been walking down the street and been recognised. This is quite a humbling experience in its self, but today Bonita had her own little story. Marley was taking Bonita for a walk down the street, when a police car pulled over, stopping traffic and wanted to talk to her. Bonita of course instantly went into "What have I done" mode and started to get worried. One beautiful and funny thing about her, is that her facial expressions really let you know what she is thinking. Any emotion she has, you can see exactly what she is feeling through her facial expressions. Its beautiful and funny at the same time. There is no way she could lie.
Anyway, the police stopped traffic and waved her over. The officer then said...
"You make those YouTube videos? Sailing Nandji?"
Giggled and had a quick chat, then cruised off.
Classic.
