"At Manson Anchors we design and create anchors you can rely on. Over the years we have developed an extensive range to suit all boats from pleasure craft and cruising, to racing vessels and superyachts. Each anchor is hand crafted at our specialist facility in Auckland, New Zealand and is available in either galvanised steel or hand polished stainless steel."

Manson Anchors
25kg Manson Supreme

Having  good reliable ground tackle is a must for every boater weather a sailor or power boater. Therefore, in my opinion, close to the most important aspect of a live aboard cruiser is the anchor. There is no better feeling than being anchored in an anchorage and the conditions change, the wind picks up but you can rest easy as you know your anchor is not going to drag. We found this out the hard way...

When we first bought Nandji, we had all kinds of issues with our old plough type anchor. It was too small for the size of Nandji and then the design of the plough type anchor was old and not reliable. The design really depended on weight to hold the vessel in place. After many experiences of dragging in bad conditions, we used to have to have someone on anchor watch when the weather turned for the worse. After having a close call with nearly colliding with a million dollar catamaran, we knew things had to change.

Since we up graded to the Manson Supreme design anchor, we have never dragged once. The design of the anchor ensures it sets itself with the roll over bar. The pointed tip is then weighted heavier so as the anchor rolls over, the point digs into the ground. The angle is then designed for the tip to penetrate deeper and not scratch or drag through the upper levels of the bottom. It can be used in all bottom types it relishes sand, mud, weed bottoms.
