What Quantum say about our sail design...

"CW 2000 - Designed using Quantum's iQ suite of computational tools, constructed from Fibercon AP 7.38 woven polyester. Cross Cut panels are laser cut, and assembled with oversized, tear drop shaped corner and reef patches, wide seams with triple throw stitching, extra layering and extensive reinforcement of high load areas throughout, with multiple webbing straps, stainless steel rings or Rutgerson press rings at head, tack, clew and reefs."

Quantum Sails
Cross Cut Fibrecon AP Cruising Jib

Nandji's original headsail that was on the vessel when we bought her, tore on our very first sail. We knew it was old but did not expect to blow it apart on the first sail! From there we dabbled with other second hand head sails from other vessels with length of 36 to 40 ft. Basically anything we could get our hands own really! This got us out of trouble and allowed us to continue sailing the Queensland coast, however to have our vessel ready to cross oceans, we needed a large headsail that was designed to match our vessel to provide optimal power to propel Nandji.
The headsail gives the most drive to your vessel and this is important in moving through seas and generally sailing with speeds. This is why we knew we needed a new headsail for Nandji.

Quantum sails are more involved with racing sails and power some of the greatest vessels around the world. They are beginning to design, make and cater more for the live aboard cruiser as this market continually grows! Ben Kelly, the representative for Quantum in Queensland, Australia, was a genuine top bloke and helped us through the design and install process.

We have now had the sail for over 18 months and the performance it provides Nandji compared to our previous sails is incomparable. With reinforced marks for reefing, we are very impressed with the performance of the sail and its durability as we have put it through its paces and sailed over 6000nm with it.
