In this episode of Sailing Nandji, after 3 long months in Langkawi, the day arrives where we can set some sails and depart onwards to our next adventure. Leaving Langkawi feels like such an accomplishment after working so hard on upgrading our vessel. With hundred's of islands between Langkawi and Thailand, it would be rude of us not to explore some of these magical lands. The geography of the area is simply stunning and then reading about a secret pirate cove hidden away on one of these islands, we knew we had to investigate. Needing to swim through pitch darkness for 80 metres through a bat ridden cave, at times the rock came so close to the waters surface you could barely sneak through without holding your breath. Then once you think your completely lost, you duck under the last rock ledge and emerge into the most beautiful pristine secret pirate cove. The waters of Thailand were run with pirates years ago and this is where they hid their plunder. Behind the emerald light, to the place the eye can not see. TO find the light, you must first find the darkness... Arrrr

In this episode of Sailing Nandji, its time to run the hours up on our new engine fang as we sea trial our new motor. After installing our new engine we soon realised that we would be in need of an autopilot as we plan to do a bit of motoring around Indonesia chasing waves. We break the bank and purchase a CPT Autopilot which is stand alone easy to install unit. Yosh installs the autopilot and then we sea trial the new autopilot. We may be out of the boatyard but we still have crap every where and lots of little tedious jobs to finalise. Each day whilst we wait for our good camera to be fixed and returned to us, we work 8 hours on the boat anchored somewhere nice away from people and then in the afternoon light, go exploring around the islands. Work hard, Play hard! It is good to be back in a bikini and sailing around Langkawi finally.
In this episode of Sailing Nandji, its tools down! Nandji is back in the water and safely at anchor once again. After spending nearly 3 months on the island of Langkawi, we are yet to see any of island apart from the boatyard. We felt it was time to go explore the island and have a day of enjoyment and try to relax a little! We hire a car for the day, little red rocket... and rattle our way around the island of Langkawi checking out the sights. We find some amazing beaches, visit waterfalls, temples and then take the famous cable car to the sky bridge up in the mountains for the spectacular views. To finish the big day of touring off, we head to the tourist beach of Langkawi, Pantai Cenang and relax with a beer and the sun setting over the water. A great day off!
In this episode of Sailing Nandji, the final task of boatyard boatwork gets done as we sand back and re antifoul the hull of Nandji. This is a filthy and tiring job but lucky for us we have spent many hours previously preparing the hull and sanding back and fixing areas meaning this time around, the task was kind of easy! Then after a few little dramas before lifting time, we manage to get everything in order and be put back in the water. Will everything work? I HOPE SO!!!! Thank you to everyone who has watched our videos and contributed to our new engine. It is all because of you legends we have been able to install this brand new engine and re-power Nandji. With all this boat work being complete our vessel is becoming indestructible as we get her ready for our next big trip across the Indian Ocean. The rewarding feeling of completing this boat work and returning to the water in 2 months is a feeling that will not be forgotten any time soon. The sheer relief of floating and the motor working is a feeling that will stay with us for a very long time. Nandji is unstoppable!!!
In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we say good bye to Uncle! The seasons are changing and he wants to get into Indonesia for the surf season before the weather turns bad. Such a legend and we are so very grateful that he has spent the last 2 months with us helping to upgrade Nandji. Before Uncle goes, he helps us to fibreglass in our cockpit floor again and re install the helm to make Nandji ready to sail once again. Our Sailboat Refit is nearly complete and this is the second to last job that needs to be completed before we can go back in the water. We have lived 9 long months without a fridge, yep NO FRIDGE! Our toilet has always been something that we are not happy with as it draws lots of power and is generally not a nice item to fix, therefore, we get a new one! We install the fridge and remove the old head to install the new shiny throne. Playing the game of thrones on a boat is something new. This toilet is a prize winning piece of engineering though and can be installed basically anywhere! For more information about the toilet or our new fridge head over to the Our Gear page.
