In this episode, let's go sailing! We arrive into Langkawi, Malaysia for some final provisions before we begin our second attempt at sailing to Indonesia. With a great weather window we are hopeful to be leaving but are held up due to the harbourmaster which delayed our departure by 2 days. Now pushing to get out by midday to hopefully cross the busy Malacca Strait before the expected bad weather hits us. It is a mad rush to make our final preparations but somehow managing to stick to our schedule, we leave Malaysia and happily watch the hills of Langkawi disappear on the horizon. Welcome back to the sailing life as we settle in to our 240 nautical passage. If at first you don't succeed, TRY AGAIN!!
In this episode, we are on the move again! We were stuck for 2 extra months in the boat yard whilst we waited for parts to arrive for the prop. But now with a rebuilt prop and a spare stowed away, Nandji is ready again for the big blue. Leaving the marina for the second time around, we felt much more at ease and extremely confident that we will not be returning again. With the weather looking great for our passage across to Indonesia, it is time to shake out unicorn fart and fly down wind! YEW!
What is like to spend 24 hours at Sea? this is the beginning of our passage sailing from Malaysia to Indonesia.
Let the journey begin! We leave Malaysia after spending the last 18 months in the country. We were stuck, have worked crazy hard completing a second refit to our boat and then had a baby. Lock down after lockdown, Nandji is finally free and on the move again! We have a 700 nautical mile sail to reach our check in port of Padang, Indonesia. The first part of the journey involves crossing the bust shipping channel, the Malacca Strait. This is area is protected from the open ocean ground swell but it is close to the equator and large unexpected squalls can happen at anytime. Picking a gap in the monsoon winds, we begun the dash across to Indonesia. We were lucky to have the perfect weather forecast window for this passage. Nothing else to say, let's go! On to the next chapter of our lives!
