In this episode, we leave Malaysia and sail 300 nautical miles back to Thailand. As we are trying to sell Nandji, we think there is more opportunity to sell her in Thailand. With already 2 people reaching out wishing to view Nandji, we head back north up the Malacca Strait a little lighter, a little better and little faster! We had some amazing sailing conditions where Nandji relished in the moment, if this is our last sail on her, it was damn good fun!!!!

In this episode, we notice that the sunbrella on the headsail had been coming loose. With the biggest sail loft in the world just down the road, we take off the head sail for some simple repairs. Putting it straight to work, we set sail 300 nautical miles to the boat yard where we haul out Nandji for a world record hardstand. After sitting in the water for a year and a half, Nandji's butt resembled a reef system. If she sell's tomorrow or in three months time, the bottom needs to be done! As we are actively boat shopping, we spied an Amel Mango on the market in the marina. Even though the broker was on the other side of the country, we manage to get the keys and have an inspection for ourselves. A beautiful boat and a sailboat that could be our next vessel!!
In this episode we delve into a full in depth tour of our sailboat Nandji. She has been our home for over 6 glorious years. During that time we have sailed over 30k nautical miles, visited 11 countries (some multiple times) had a baby and completed 2 major refits. The vessel is a totally different boat than when we bought her! She was re-powered in 2019 and in 2020/21 completed an entire interior refit. With a recent haul out for bottom paint, she is turn key ready to sail around the world!! It has come time for us to sell Nandji as we wish to purchase a bigger vessel for our growing family. It is sad for us to sell after we have invested the last 6+ years into her. We love our boat, she has been an awesome vessel for us and changed our lives for the better. It has come time for someone else to enjoy her.
In this episode, since arriving to Thailand we wanted to explore more of the country. We have sailed extensively around the islands and explored Phuket. This time we wanted to head deep inland to explore the jungle. We take a road trip across the country to Khao Sok national park and stay in an extraordinary floating home! Khao Sok is a man made lake and covers 162 square kilometres. The mountainous country side with stunning limestone cliffs are breath taking. Within the National park, there are around 200 wild Thailand elephants and we see one!!!
MORE POWER!! How we stay OFF GRID for MONTHS?? | Turning our 9.9hp Outboard into a 15hp!! Ep 2936/22/2023 In this episode, it's all about the power! You can never have enough power on a sailboat when living off grid! We dive into how Nandji is able to keep all the batteries charged and how we charge our boat allowing us to stay off grid for weeks and sometimes months at a time!
In this episode, we clear out of Indonesia and head out to sea on a 220 nautical mile sail across the busy shipping channel of the Malacca Strait onwards to Thailand. We have been racing weather the entire journey up the coast and with only more expected storms to arrive in a couple days time, it is off to sea we go hoping to reach Thailand before the weather comes in. With some glorious days of Spinnaker sailing, we really settle into the smooth ride without any presence of ground swell. But we don't reach Thailand before the storm...
Heading north up the Sumatran coast towards the most GNARLIEST patch of water for this whole journey! In this episode, we have been steadily making tracks north towards Thailand over the last week. With the final stretch in Indonesian waters, we are preparing to round the northern tip of Sumatra. The entire Indian Ocean tries its best to pass through 3 tiny cuts through the land mass. With currents flowing up to 6 knots, we are in for a wild ride if we don't time this right! This could go horribly wrong!
Sailing to Thailand!!! Let the 500 miles begin! In this episode we are a family at sea on our way to Thailand! For the last few days we had been trying to make ground north through the West Sumatran islands towards the most north western tip of Indonesia to our clearance port Sabang. The weather has been terrible and with only a small window of nice weather before more expected bad weather comes, we have been persevering through some heavy seas, needing to turn around and hide away from weather, been boat bound in the mangroves with torrential rain and then finally sailed north from the island of Nias to Treasure island in the Banyak island group. With still a further 500 nautical miles to sail to reach our final destination of Thailand, the journey is just beginning!
