In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we return to Thailand from Malaysia and get straight into the list of boat jobs needed to complete before we can continue on our journey. Thailand is a great place to complete tasks as there are many options to find boat supplies. Whilst we were cruising in Indonesia, Yosh made a boo boo and accidentally put a hole in the tender. After patching it up himself, the continual leak has been driving us crazy so we take it to the professionals to fix. Whilst there, we get some added protection for our RIB. Its tender love day, because dinghies need loving too!

Flying down wind, we need to avoid a fishing trawler and we LOSE steering... In this episode of Sailing Nandji, our quick dash to Langkawi is complete and we have some stronger winds forecast to blow us back to Thailand. We head out early and enjoy some great fun sailing. There are lots of fishing trawlers to watch out for and trying to do some quick avoidance, we lose our steering at sea... She will be right! Who needs steering anyway, Right???
In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we utilise the sunny days in Thailand and explore some of the many islands there are on offer. The sailing grounds in Thailand are amazing and we are blessed with smooth, easy and fun sailing. The problem is that other tourist boats are only a short boat ride away from the land and therefore we have to be in quick if we want to beat the masses. Part of the enjoyment of living on a sailboat is to find seclusion, away from everyone and everything. Thailand makes that hard, but we tried and we won!!!

In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we meet up with fellow Youtube sailing channel Yacht Ruby Rose. We were preparing to leave the Phi Phi island area when Bonita received a message from these guys asking where we were and if we wanted to hang! Awesome! We know a great little place where we could go and try to impress our fellow yachties... This is where we nearly kill Yacht Ruby Rose...
In this episode of Sailing Nandji, after spending 5 months in remote Indonesia, returning to Thailand we thought we wanted to do the normal tourist stuff, so we motor sailed Nandji the 20nm across to the infamous Phi Phi islands. This place is crazy busy with boats and tourists as thousands of tourists every day frequent the island. With hundreds of loud long boats roaring past Nandji, we decide to join the pack and hire our very own long boat captain for the day and head out on an excursion around the islands. This romanitc idea was more stressful than anticipated as we have near misses, boat collisions, get stuck on a rock and then have choppy seas on the way home... A real Thailand adventure!
In this episode of Sailing Nandji, after a couple of days at sea, we arrive back to the island of Phuket in Thailand. After spending 5 months in remote Indonesia we were craving the simple things in life that a developed tourist area offers. Western food and supermarkets, wine and lots of people! Bonita makes the most of being able to get dressed up and look pretty and then is left alone with the scissors... It is good to be back in Thailand where everything just feels easier and more free. We have a tradition now that when ever we complete a passage we hunt for the nearest beer and burger for breakfast! We happen to drop anchor next to Uncle's boat and it is great to see this legend again and celebrate his birthday! With full bellies and big smiles, we relax into Thailand life again and prepare for the onward journey.
In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we depart Indonesia on a 220nm sail across the Malacca Strait to Thailand. After a scary start to the journey with problems with our AIS in the middle of the second busiest shipping lanes in the world... We are blessed with the most amazing conditions and make great tracks to Thailand. We have the best sunsets and sunrises we have seen in a long time! For some reason the best sunsets are at sea!
We spend a week in Thailand preparing for our first big offshore passage since the refit, across the Mallaca Strait to Indonesia! https://www.sailingnandji.com In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we arrive to the island of Phuket in Thailand. Wasting no time, we head straight to land and hire a scooter to begin the daily missions of chasing up everything we need for our next big adventure to Indonesia and the Indian Ocean. We collect the essentials, ranging from surfboards and fishing rods to toilet paper and epoxy! We get our NEW Flexible Solar panel by Solbian Solar panels stitched onto our bimini. Nandji now has a little bit of luxury with 2 fridges installed and we want to maximise the amount of solar energy we can harness installing the new SXX 180 flexible solar panel. These panels are new technology and we are excited to now have over 700 watts of solar on Nandji. To learn more about this product, check out our website. https://www.sailingnandji.com/our-gear.html Keeping busy whilst we wait for the bimini to be completed, we finish off other jobs around Nandji that need to be done. Since leaving the boatyard we have a long list of little jobs that need to be completed to finalise the refit. One of these is to re apply kiwi grip on the new bow, so we spend the afternoon finishing off this project before going out enjoying the fact we are in Thailand after all! It can not be all work without a little play!
