In this episode of Sailing Nandji, after a visit from the Malaysian customs, we decide it is time to head back to town to replenish our fresh supplies and learn more about the current world pandemic. After the ladies complete the food shopping, we learnt it was too early to be back around people. We head straight back to Nandji and set some sails and got as far away as we were allowed, time to spend another month off grid of lockdown living. Rather than return to Angry monkey beach, we find a new anchorage at the bottom of some cliffs. With no internet for two weeks, we move Nandji again closer to a beach where the Whippet can stretch his legs easily. With no other people around for weeks, the noises of the jungle really made it feel we were a long way from anyone or anything. A great place to hide away and let the world heal.
In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we are up early with the sunrise and head out under sail, close reaching the final 15 nautical miles to Langkawi, Malaysia. Countries were beginning to drastically implement new laws and regulations and us sailors are the most vulnerable. We are hoping to reach a safe harbour before Malaysia shuts the border and we are not exiled at sea. This were changing daily but everything was very new back then and were hopeful that this would not be for long. We continued on with our plans to prepare to leave to Indonesia and we rushed around collecting packages and preparing Nandji for the Indian Ocean. The ladies provision the boat ready for 6 months of sailing and we are waiting on our visas for Indo to be ready and then we are off!
Flying down wind, we need to avoid a fishing trawler and we LOSE steering... In this episode of Sailing Nandji, our quick dash to Langkawi is complete and we have some stronger winds forecast to blow us back to Thailand. We head out early and enjoy some great fun sailing. There are lots of fishing trawlers to watch out for and trying to do some quick avoidance, we lose our steering at sea... She will be right! Who needs steering anyway, Right???
In this episode of Sailing Nandji, its time to run the hours up on our new engine fang as we sea trial our new motor. After installing our new engine we soon realised that we would be in need of an autopilot as we plan to do a bit of motoring around Indonesia chasing waves. We break the bank and purchase a CPT Autopilot which is stand alone easy to install unit. Yosh installs the autopilot and then we sea trial the new autopilot.
We may be out of the boatyard but we still have crap every where and lots of little tedious jobs to finalise. Each day whilst we wait for our good camera to be fixed and returned to us, we work 8 hours on the boat anchored somewhere nice away from people and then in the afternoon light, go exploring around the islands. Work hard, Play hard! It is good to be back in a bikini and sailing around Langkawi finally.
