In this episode, our time out in this remote atoll has come to an end. Without having any reception for over a week and running off of our 10 day old weather forecast, we have a hint of a feeling that the weather is about to change. We need to get 120 nautical miles north to a safe harbour before the wind changes and we are stuck. Leaving a beautiful place is always hard, but was it early enough... Upwind sailing is fun right?

HOW DO WE HAVE THIS PLACE ALL TO OURSELVES!!! This has to be closest to the best place we have ever been. In this episode, we are anchored in an extremely remote atoll in Indonesia. We have been trying to reach this place for years and with a few perfect days of weather, we have been maximising our time here. Spearfishing to catch food and swimming in the most clearest blue water. We have been out here for a few days now and loving living life off grid and secluded away from the rest of the world. Being so remote, we have to always be cautious as the weather can change at any minute. Sunshine and clear skies one minute, 30 knots and stormy the next. Dealing with massive frontal systems is why people stay away from this location, not us... Here we are in the middle of it!
AN ENTIRE ATOLL TO OURSELVES! Surviving from the Ocean, CATCH & COOK: Giant Coral Trout... Ep 2809/19/2022 One of the best places we have ever gone to! How can we have this atoll all to ourselves!!! In this episode, we reach our dream destination of an atoll in the middle of no where! We have wanted to sail to this place for years now and to finally reach this destination is a dream come true. After rising early to beat the trade winds, we have a reasonably smooth sail out to the atoll. Not wasting anytime, as soon as the anchor is down, we are in the tender and off to explore this magnificent wonderland. With a tiny island inside the lagoon, the ladies hang out on the beach whilst the dad goes hunting for dinner. Spearing a monster Coral trout, we head to the beach to cook up this delicious fish. Trying a new way of cooking, it turned out delicious. What an end to a magical day.
Let's go remote, like a LONG WAY FROM ANY WHERE!! Trying to sail to a remote atoll, but the weather has other plans In this episode, we depart the last town of the Mentawai archipelago and head south towards the unknown. We are yet to venture this far south and are heading 75 nautical miles to an atoll in the Indian Ocean. Heading south east straight into the trade winds create some rough upwind offshore sailing. Not ideal with a baby onboard! Sometimes it takes more than once to reach these destinations, thats what makes them so rewarding when you arrive! Catching a big Barracuda, we spy some local canoes fishing for their dinner. Deciding to gift away the fish we caught, we make an old guys day!
Surfing with the G.O.A.T. Kelly Slater!! A childhood dream come true! In this episode, we have been anchored up behind an island near Macaroni's resort in the Mentawai islands, enjoying our time in paradise as a monster swell hits the islands. Yosh was out for his morning surf and blabbering away to someone random, when he turned and right there in front of him was his childhood hero. Kelly Slater. Continuing our journey south through the archipelago, Kelly is not done yet and wants to see Nandji in all her glory so the captain of his vessel decides to try and run us down!!! We safely arrive into the last village and port of call before heading off to our atoll destination. Trying to find the last few supplies before the great adventure into the middle of no where! The town has limited food supplies, except Durian! The most disgusting and stinky fruit going around!!!
In this episode, we are anchored up in one of the best anchorages we have ever been in. Protected from all the elements and a short tender ride through an amazing mangrove chain to a world class surfing wave! This is as close to paradise as we could ever find! With a huge swell inbound, Yosh needs his big boy pants! Learning that there was a crocodile spotted in the mangroves, us Australians can not resist ourselves and go searching for this elusive crocodile. After hours of searching we thought it wasn't going to happen, then all of a sudden!!!!
