In this episode, we explore the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia in a Rooftop tent. During our time in Australia we have been exploring many different ways of alternative living. So far we have slept in a shed, a caravan, drove around in a converted van and now we have switched it all up for a four wheel drive and a rooftop tent! Not sure this is an upgrade though...

Aren't these guys the most playful animals! The puppy dogs of the Sea! In this episode, we head to some offshore islands near my home town on the Eyre Peninsula to tick off one of those bucket list items, swimming with Sea Lions! These playful creatures are an endangered species with only around 7000 left in the wild. To swim with these beautiful animals in our own back yard was an amazing experience. Our time home in Australia is coming close to an end, whilst it has been great to be home and finally see friends and family, we miss our boat. Nandji is calling us back and can not wait to get back on her in the coming weeks!
In this episode, we travel to South Australia, this is where we both grew up and more importantly, where Marley has been waiting for us to return! After collecting our little fur baby in Adelaide, we then drive back to the Eyre Peninsula of South Australia. This is the coast where Yosh grew up until he moved to the city of Adelaide for work. Whilst home, we take out the family tinny and go fishing! 2 adults, 1 baby and a dog hunting for King George whiting. With a feed caught, we clean and cook up a feast for the family!
In this episode, let's test out another way of alternative living! We first sailed away from Australia back in July 2017, since then we have sailed many miles and visited many countries, however upon returning to Australia to visit family, we realised we had not explored the east coast of our own backyard. What better way to explore Australia than in our very own camper van! Before we lived on our sailboat Nandji, we lived in a bus called FROTH and travelled around Australia, living the van life ways. Now after 5 years of sailing, it was a great experience to come back to our homeland and give the van life way of life another go!
Arriving back to Australia has had a few extra curveballs... In this episode, we are back in Australia to visit family. But arriving back to sunny Queensland was the exact opposite! After a dose of covid and isolation for a week, the sunny skies were replaced with grey gloomy clouds and torrential rain. But when it rains, it's time to go look at waterfalls! However after a couple of days of fun, the rain continued and before we knew it, the are was becoming flooded...
After 2.5 years of being away, we are finally heading home so our families can meet our daughter! n this episode, we are Australia bound! With all the difficulties of travelling due to that never ending virus, we had been stuck away from our families for over two and half years. After building a mooring to keep Nandji safe and sound in Indonesia, we board 4 planes and transit for 48 hours to get back to the welcoming arms of Bonita's mum, Tallula's Nanna.
I built a mooring for our sailboat in remote Indonesia... In this episode, Australia has finally opened their borders for flights without quarantine and therefore we make the decision to fly home instead of sailing to Australia. This means leaving our sailboat in Indonesia for a couple of months. to try and prevent wear on the anchor chain, we decide to build a mooring! We have first hand experience of when moorings fail and therefore there is no way that is happening again! Let's build a mornring to last until the next ice age!
Food shopping is very different in remote Indonesia than the western world... How do we get our food??? In this episode, we take you for a ride along as we try to find food. Provisioning for trips away is a difficult task when your departure port is already a long way "away". There are no super markets around, no western products, out of date "long life" foods and a market where its first in best dressed. We head into a village to try and load up Nandji for 2 weeks away.
